Manly Dam
Continue ReadingCan’t believe I’ve lived in Manly for over two years and never bothered to venture out to Manly Dam.
It’s a 10 minute drive from Manly but when you’re there it feels like you’re hours outside of Sydney.
It has toilets, BBQ’s, Swimming, boat ramp, Water Skiing, a kids playground, walking tracks, fishing is allowed.
Parking is metered at about $5 an hour but you can park outside the park and walk in.
Will definitely be exploring this place more.

Car Drives Off Cliff at Queenscliff Rd
Continue ReadingWe were woken up last night at about 1:30 AM by a police helicopter, it was circling around and hovering quite low.
Apparently at the end of the street people hand claimed that a car had driven off the cliff.
This morning there were helicopters and police boats around the area looking for the car.
There was fairly large swell today and during the afternoon one of the police boats had become beached on the rocks.
A crowd gathered and news crews arrived to film the event.

Christmas Eve
Continue ReadingI deciced to focus on the seagulls this morning as the waves were small and mushy. One more sleep until Christmas, this year has gone by fast. There is going to be a Camel Parade today on the Corso in front of St Matthew’s Anglican Church at 2:30pm so I might go down and take some more photos this afternoon. Any hoo, Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year! In the mean time enjoy these photos I’ve selected for today’s post.

2:20pm - Surf Sesh @ South Steyne
Continue ReadingAfter succesfully getting up for the sunrise this morning I thought I tried something different this afternoon and get in the water to take some video. It was hard swimming around and trying to stay out of peoples way, next time I will take some flippers with me. I had fun and got some ok video, some shots I was pointing the wrong way and I was diving under the wave early so I missed people going past, I’ll have to remember to work on that next time, but it’s a good first effort.

Holidays
Continue ReadingToday is officially the first day of the Christmas holidays for me. I set my alarm last night for 5:30am and I managed to get up this morning, so I grabbed my camera and headed down for the sunrise. It’s nice and warm this morning at 24 degrees apparently going to rain later this afternoon. And for all the nerds out there that might be interested, as of last night I have converted this site over to a Jekyll blog hosted on Github pages, which means fast free hosting with version control. Feel free to check out my git repo for this site and raise a pull request ; )

Gabriel
Continue ReadingFor some reason I was awake this morning and I noticed a golden glow coming through the window so I grabbed my camera and raced to the roof to take some photos. There was also a double rainbow over the Manly Cricket Oval and I also received a phone call later that morning to find out my nephew had been born, what a day! So I dedicate these photos to my nephew Gabriel.

Lightning
Continue ReadingI was standing out on our balcony and noticed lightning on the horizon so I grabbed my camera and tripod and headed to the roof. It wasn’t raining which was good and I must have taken about 50 long exposure shots trying to capture the lightning. Most of the photos came out rubbish but I managed to get a few good ones.
